In the home of John Roberts

Welcome to the 2010 Waterford Festival of Architecture. The very first John Roberts Festival took place in the year 2000 to celebrate the buildings of Waterford’s Georgian architect; among them Christ Church Cathedral, the Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity, Bishops Palace and the Theatre Royal.  The festival has grown from strength to strength and to mark its ten year anniversary has changed its name and extended its programme to celebrate. The 2010 theme of the festival is ‘architecture and community’ and is reflected throughout the programme. Over 150 school children are taking part in workshops in the city and county. There are five free exhibitions taking place over the festival weekend and many of our other events are free of charge. None of it would be possible without the support and shared resources of all our funders, sponsors, partners and volunteers. This year we have been working closely with the The Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland, (RIAI) in its role to promote architecture, and support architects. This is a festival that celebrates contemporary architecture and our built heritage, and gives everyone an opportunity to take a fresh look at where they live and work. We welcome community involvement and participation. We hope that you will join in and have a great festival.
